The present exhibition at the Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra (CAPC), located at Círculo Sereia and dedicated to Delfim Amorim, aims to reveal a distinctive picture of the works by this architect who lived between the two shores of the Atlantic. Evidently, it is «uma visita à sua obra» [a visit to his work], which does not do justice to the scale and magnitude of the many, different and important teachings and services that Delfim Amorim generously offered to all, from the mid-1940s to the early 1970s, at first in Portugal, and later in Brazil. Despite this, it is estimated that a «visita de Delfim Amorim a Coimbra» [the visit of Delfim de Amorim to Coimbra] might indeed shed some light on the context of his interventions, particularly highlighting the underlying critical reflection. Since it is believed that his «Arquitectura é de hoje» [architecture is of today] and that his thinking will without a doubt motivate all to read and review carefully, there is a brief overview of some aspects of the professional activity of Delfim Amorim in four areas. It is also important to recall the fact that he emigrated to Brazil on December 24, 1951, settling in Recife.
