16:00 — Opening of the exhibition
The result of an Open Call from the Circle, the exhibition PENSAR COMO A MONTANHA [THINKING LIKE THE MOUNTAIN] offers an attentive listening to the time of things, of rocks and of silences — an invitation to think about the world from its depth and thickness.
Bringing together nine projects by artists from different geographies and generations — Ana Fróis, Catarina de Oliveira, Coletivo Esfinge Ancestral, Gabriela Carvalho e Cunha, Eduardo Mota and Tiago Martins, Hilda de Paulo, Inverso (Sonia Salcedo and Neno del Castillo), Nuno Silas and Pedro Gramaxo — the exhibition is inspired by Aldo Leopold's essay, “Think Like a Mountain” (1949), to propose conceptual, poetic and sensory approaches to the relationship between humanity and nature.
With works that cross painting, installation and digital media, the proposals evoke layers, sediments, and vibrations of the mountain, in dialogue with the ecological thinking of Alberto Carneiro, Timothy Morton and Ailton Krenak, exploring the idea that art and the world are inseparable.
Rather than reflecting on environmental and civilizational crises, PENSAR COMO A MONTANHA imagines other forms of coexistence and listening, suggesting that delaying the end of the world may mean relearning to dream collectively.
