Inspired by the verse of the poet Wislawa Szymborska — nada acontece duas vezes [nothing happens twice] —, this exhibition, curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas, brings together the artists Pedro França and Raphaela Melsohn.
In the Mermaid Circle, over the three rooms, a sensitive and non-linear journey through creative processes, ruins and possible constructions is constructed. Starting from the centrality of drawing — sometimes as a methodical projection (Melsohn), sometimes as an impulsive record (France) —, the exhibition proposes a coexistence of divergent practices, installed in the space between impossible repetition, the occupation of the present and reinvention based on error. Behind the scenes of creation, physical occupations of space and productive ruins, the idea of a closed work is challenged and the artistic process is celebrated as a field of permanent transformation.
nada acontece duas vezes doesn't tell a linear story: it suggests a spiral of attempts, failures, and reinventions — where even error is living matter.
